Our Story

Where It All Started

From a small group of parents with a big idea to a thriving organization serving hundreds of young athletes across Pike County.

Born From Community Spirit

JHS Young Athletes was born out of a simple belief: that every kid in Eolia and the surrounding Pike County area deserved a safe place to play, grow, and belong. In the early 2000s, a small group of parents and local coaches came together after noticing that youth sports opportunities in the area were limited — and the children who needed them most often had the least access.

What started as informal weekend pickup games quickly became something more. With borrowed equipment, borrowed fields, and no shortage of determination, the founders organized the first official season of JHS Young Athletes — a few dozen kids, a handful of coaches, and a whole lot of heart.

More than fifteen years later, that same spirit drives everything we do. We've grown into a full-fledged nonprofit with multiple sports, certified coaches, and community partnerships — but our roots remain exactly where they started: right here in Eolia, Missouri.
